Next Planting Day Saturday June 4

I planted 6 broccoli plants and carrot seeds on this side.

The zinnias are starting to come up, as well as the cucumber seeds.

Lettuce is growing... I picked a few leaves but don't love the red lettuce.

The robin is up to his old tricks.

Beginning the Garden

I planted the lettuce on a rainy day around the middle of May.  The red lettuce was growing on it's own and I moved it.  The green lettuce is butter lettuce from Allendale Farms.  

May 30 is when I really began planting.  Here is what I did.

Here is the plot!

I added herbs and a few marigolds to the square in front of the lettuce.  On the far side are 2 pepper plants, a cucumber, and some cucumber seeds.  Oh, and zinnias and sunflowers in the far left corner.

Roxane's tomatoes are in the middle row.

I planted some zucchini and summer square in the middle of the lettuce.

This robin came over and ate some worms after I turned the soil. 

Community Garden

I'm working a plot at the Minton Stable Community Garden, about a half mile from my house.  The plot belongs to a friend, who will be away a lot this summer.
